Coffee as a drink, usually served hot, is prepared from the roasted seeds (beans) of the coffee plant. It is one of mankind's chief sources of the stimulant caffeine. Because of this, coffee's nutritional benefits are disputed, sometimes labeled a cure-all, other times labeled a health hazard (see caffeinism).

The Coffee Green Specialty Retailers: The Daily Grind Perks Us Up
By Tana Ticer
Gourmet retailers know what their customers want. It is there job. If they didn't know how to better reach their customers, they would miss out on their chunk of $18 billion spent annually on and products. Of course not one fits every drinker. If it did, the industry would be boring and lack imagination. Everyone would drink a slightly watered down somewhere between decaf and regular. Thank goodness that all drinkers enjoy a slightly different brew. Of all the types, perhaps the most unique and rare is the green specialty bean. This rarity is none the less tasty, but not as well known or as popular. However, as drinkers grow more finicky and more demanding, perhaps one of the easiest things to go is to go green.

Going "green" is actually not as complicated or demanding as it may sound. A green specialty retailer will help of course. Finding one of those is easy. However, finding a reputable one may be more difficult; then finding one you are comfortable with is a test of stamina and patience. What does "going green" actually mean? Well, if you go green, you are actually deciding to buy your specialty bean green or not roasted. A green bean means it is hand picked and then shipped. No roasting, no processing: what you get is a raw bean. Then you choose how to roast and process the bean once you receive the delicate marvel. Whether you choose to buy the syrups and additives for creating your own flavored coffee, or just roast the bean naturally, the taste is the ultimate reward.

Now let's investigate popular methods to finding a good green specialty retailer. As is a popular form of media these days, the Internet is also a prime location to find a green merchant. What you look for will be essential in finding a reputable and worthwhile green merchant. Take a look at the contact. Do they have a web site? If so: what does that web site look like? Do not forget to check the better business bureau and other certifications granted by local and national governments of the bean farmers home country. Do not be duped though. There may be ways to verify the information. If you can do so, do so. When shipping to your home country from other countries, please be aware of importation laws and more importantly, the fees associated with importing produce. It may seem a great deal to purchase a pound of green beans for only a few dollars, but if the importation fee for your country is triple the cost, you will be paying a whole lot more than you thought.

Green beans offer the true connoisseur the opportunity to create and design a blend perfected to his or her own tastes. On the other hand, green beans allow retailers to produce their own specialty flavorings and styles. Then they can label those beans. When you get a bag of beans or ground from that gourmet shop, it may be worthwhile to ask what the base bean actually is. Anyway you look at it, green beans often save the buyer money, but in the end, all green beans offer the drinker an enhanced experience.
